Dr Cheng Bian

Dr. Cheng Bian is CELIS Assistant Country Reporter for China.

Dr. Cheng Bian is an Assistant Professor at Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He obtained his master’s degree in international law and passed the Chinese bar. He obtained his doctorate in 2018 from Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he completed his thesis and published it as a monograph titled ‘National Security Review of Foreign Investment: A Comparative Legal Analysis of China, the United States and the European Union’ (Routledge, 2020). Besides a focus on the topic of FDI screening and national security, his research and teaching cover international investment law and arbitration, Chinese business law, commercial and corporate law, EU-China investment law and policy, and data governance.
