Galo Marquez

Galo Marquez is CELIS Assistant Country Reporter for Mexico.

Galo Marquez is a graduate from Tec de Monterrey Law School, with post graduate studies in international commercial and investment arbitration. He is also part of the International Commercial and Investment Arbitration Practice at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C. Galo’s academic research has been recognized by Kluwer Arbitration, the University of CEU San Pablo, the ICC, the University of Zaragoza, and the University of Externado Colombia, among others. He is currently a Contributor to the International Investment Claims Reports at Oxford University and the Special National Rapporteur for Alternative Dispute Resolution at the International Academy of Comparative Law.

He has received multiple awards, including the 2022 First Place in the Spanish Arbitration Club International Arbitration Essay Contest and the Second Place, Finalist Ex Aequo et Bono Global Jurist Award on International Economic Law Prize. Galo was recently awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2022 Nappert Prize in International Arbitration by the University of McGill. He was also the first Mexican to win the Weinstein International Foundation - International Mediation Competition. Galo graduated from Tec de Monterrey with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership in Professional Development and the Student Development Diploma. He is currently pursuing an LLM in International Dispute Resolution at Queen Mary University of London.
