Georgiana Badescu

Georgiana Bădescu is CELIS Country Reporter for Romania.

Georgiana Bădescu is a partner with Schoenherr, a leading regional law firm in Central and Eastern Europe/ South-Eastern Europe. Georgiana heads the firm's competition, EU & foreign trade practice group and data protection team in Romania. She is an experienced EU & competition lawyer, with a strong track record in merger control, FDI screening, sector inquiries and investigations for potential breaches conducted by the Romanian competition authority, general competition advice, state aid. Georgiana's experience includes assistance in ground-breaking projects, such as the monitoring of commitments undertaken by entities investigated by the Romanian competition regulator. She has conducted a considerable number of compliance audits, has implemented mock dawn raids, and has delivered competition training programmes to a considerable number of companies. Georgiana is actively involved in advocacy projects as part of her membership in the AmCham competition & state aid task force in Romania. She is frequently invited as speaker in competition events and has authored numerous articles on EU & competition legal topics. Georgiana has been a member of the Bucharest Bar since 2005. She graduated from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Law, Bucharest/Romania (LL.B. 2004) and from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Collège Juridique d'Etudes Européennes, Paris/France (Maitrise 2004).
