Rahmi Kopar

Dr. Rahmi Kopar is a lecturer in Private International Law Division at the Law Faculty of Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University in Turkey and he teaches ‘International Investment Law’ and ‘Introduction to Energy Law’ modules here. He completed his LLM at the University of Vienna in 2013 and his PhD on international energy investment arbitration in 2019 at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee under the supervision of Prof. Peter Cameron. His monograph which discusses stability and legitimate expectations issues in international energy investment arbitration was published by Hart Publishing in September 2021. He has attended many national and international conferences and delivered presentations on investment law, energy law, and arbitration subjects. Alongside these, he frequently writes analysis articles for Anadolu Agency on energy and investment related topics. He is a qualified lawyer in Turkey and has been a member of Istanbul Bar since 2011. He is listed as an arbitrator at the Energy Disputes Arbitration Center. He will be a visiting fellow at the CEPMLP until August 2022. In addition to his mother tongue Turkish, he is fluent in English and he has intermediate level knowledge of German and Arabic.
