Call for Applications 2026: CELIS Country Reporters on Foreign Investment Screening

The CELIS Institute announces the opening of several positions as CELIS Country Reporter (m/f/d) who will contribute to the Institute’s Country Report Project.

The CELIS Country Report project aims to provide well-informed, open access analysis on foreign investment regulation, with a particular focus on investment screening in various jurisdictions. We publish concise overviews of national foreign investment screening regimes (CELIS Country Notes), more detailed analysis on specific issues relating to these regimes, (CELIS Issue Notes), and comprehensive, in-depth reports (CELIS Country Reports).

All publications are reviewed and edited by the CELIS experts to ensure a high-quality standard of research.

We are currently inviting applications to cover the following jurisdictions:

EU Member States:

• Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovenia

Non-EU Countries:

• Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore, Norway, Türkiye, Peru, New Zealand, Philippines

To build additional capacity, we also welcome expressions of interest from jurisdictions that already have actively serving Country Reporters.

The current Call is part of the Institute’s initiative to expand its network of practitioners, researchers, officials and other stakeholders in the field.

Role Description: 

CELIS Country Reporters provide regular updates and analyses about developments across various jurisdictions on foreign investment regulation, with a focus on investment screening for threats to public order and security.

Key responsibilities include:

(1) Following legal developments in investment screening in the assigned jurisdiction;

(2) Producing regular, concise, clear, and well-informed analyses on developments regarding foreign investment regulation, with a particular focus on investment screening;

(3) Collecting and providing to CELIS relevant material, such as laws, and regulations, judgements, and reference to literature.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should:

(1) Hold a degree in law;

(2) Demonstrate expertise in legal, political, and/or economic aspects of foreign investment regulation;

(3) Have three or more years of relevant experience;

(4) Be capable of clearly and precisely communicating national legal developments in English;

(5)  Have strong legal research and writing skills.
