Jesús García Aparicio
Jesús García Aparicio is CELIS Country Reporter for Spain.
Jesús G. Aparicio is a senior associate at CUATRECASAS, specialized in corporate law, corporate governance, M&A transactions, joint ventures and restructuring processes. He has an extensive experience advising companies on the application and consequences of the Spanish foreign investment regime in strategic sectors, which includes, among others, critical infrastructure, key inputs, defense, media, sensitive date and critical technology.
He is a dual qualified lawyer, admitted to the bar in Spain (2010) and in the State of New York (2017). In 2021/2022, he completed a one-year secondment in New York at the Corporate/M&A Group of CRAVATH, SWAINE & MOORE LLP.
He is member of the CUATRECASAS’ German Desk, which specializes in advising company groups based in German-speaking countries on their business activities on the Iberian Peninsula.
In Spain, he is also a founding member and secretary of the alumni association “Fulbright Network Spain” and chairman of the “New York University Alumni Club in Spain“.
He lectures in the law degree and Master’s in International Lawyering at ISDE Law Business School, on corporate law, international contracting and FDI. He is the author of specialized articles on corporate law and was a graduate editor of the New York University Journal of Law and Business from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, he was a research fellow in a capital markets project at the International Institute for the Unification of the Private Law (UNIDROIT) in Italy in 2015, and, in 2009, at the World Trade Center Organization in Montana (United States).
In 2014/2015, he was granted a Fulbright Scholarship and completed an LL.M. in Corporation Law with focus on corporate governance, firms restructuring and M&A from the New York University School of Law, being granted, at the graduation, with the Charles D. Klein ’63 Award, for the demonstrated excellence in combining the analysis of legal and business issues. He has also received the Master of Law and Business from the two leading German universities: Bucerius Law School and Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU) in 2014.
Besides his law degree and business degree from the University of Cordoba in 2009 (both with distinction), he received an extensive international education in law and business thanks to the completion of multiple exchange programs and courses at various leading academic institutions in the United States (Harvard University, New York University, Cornell University, University of Montana, Virginian Commonwealth University), Germany (Bucerius Law School & WHU Beisheim School of Management, Regensburg Universität, Bayreuth Universität (DAAD Scholar), European Business School), the United Kingdom (King’s College London), Finland (University of Helsinki), Japan (Tokyo Meiji University) and Spain (Universidad de Navarra, Universitat Jaume I).
